Your gift helps support our highly qualified and dedicated staff and faculty. Today, we highlight Dr. James Hall, one of the many wonderful faculty members at Scottsdale Preparatory Academy. His journey began in the 2019-2020 school year when he discovered Great Hearts through a job fair. From the moment he learned about its educational philosophy, he felt a calling.
His journey into teaching began during graduate studies, where he developed a taste for imparting knowledge. Here at Scottsdale Prep, Dr. Hall has the privilege of witnessing students engage in conversations that far surpass those of many graduate students. Their depth of inquiry and curiosity rival that of collegiate-level discussions, and their ability to connect with each other is truly inspiring.
What sets our students apart is their genuine care for one another. They support each other through collaborative reading groups, creating an environment where learning is a shared journey rather than a solitary task.
Through his time at Scottsdale Prep, Dr. Hall has developed a deep appreciation for literature—not just as a source of entertainment but as a means to understand the human experience. One of the highlights of our curriculum is the study of Plato, which transforms students’ perspectives and encourages them to think critically about the world around them.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the teaching role at Scottsdale Prep is seeing our alumni return to campus. Their visits serve as a powerful reminder that the education they received here truly resonates. They carry the values of Great Hearts into their futures, and it’s clear that our impact extends well beyond the classroom.
